Masseria Torre Maizza
Guests will find the Torre Maizza farm set in a grove of age-old olive trees and can enjoy strolls through our orchards, vineyards and fields of other crops, where the air is scented with heady myrtle and delicate jasmine, mingling to create our estate's typical Mediterranean fragrance. Torre Maizza is an ancient garrison, part of a defence line that crossed all of Apulia, from the Gargano promontory to "finibus terrae" as Santa Maria di Leuca was called. During the sixteenth century it served as a watchtower against the raids of Ottoman and Saracen Turks, and has now been converted into a refined, luxury 5-star resort. Local traditional hospitality, once extended to pilgrims and Benedictine monks, is now offered to our guests, an intense experience in a discreetly-scented land of ancient customs.
Guests have an array of activities to choose from, from cooking school to a private beach to a golf course to horseback riding. Glimpses of the Mediterranean from the window of the rooms, framed by the colours of the olive grove and the grassy scent of the green golf course are the scenario to be enjoyed from each small terrace. Horseback Riding
Set in the beautiful setting of the apulian countryside full of olive trees which are more than 1000 years old, our riding centre offers the possibility of long promenades in the countryside looking at old masserias or along the long sandy beach through the vegetables fields and the olive trees, is possible also to take riding lessons even for beginners and children with ponies, available boots, and caps.
